The charity is governed by its board of trustees, all of whom are volunteers drawn from a variety of care and commercial backgrounds to ensure the right balance for the successful development of Myriad.
The Centre is run by experienced staff and volunteers who are dedicated to providing a caring, safe and stimulating environment of the highest standard for the education and recreation of its clients. Through constant evaluation and monitoring of its quality assurance, it is planned to promote Myriad as a centre of excellence offering training to staff from similar organisations.
Maggie Allen Centre Manager. Maggie worked at a local special needs school as head of Key Stage Four & Post 16, prior to being employed to manage the Myriad Centre. During her school career she encountered the difficulties faced by parents with limited options for their children once they left school. Armed with this knowledge she and a number of other professionals established the charity.
With the support of the trustees, as having a general overview of the running of the centre she is also responsible for the following:
Lynn Parker. Deputy Centre Manager. Lynn worked at a local Special Needs School for 18 years as a Teaching Assistant with Post 16 students with profound and multiple learning difficulties. and has achieved a number of qualifications in the field. Lynn also has personal experience to bring as she has a 30 year old son with learning difficulties.
Within the Centre Lynn is responsible for the following:
Christine Reynolds. Volunteer. For the first ten years post-registration, Christine specialised in trauma nursing holding the post of Nursing Sister within several casualty departments at hospitals in Birmingham. She then took up a post with Wychavon Social Services running special needs play-schemes prior to joining Worcestershire NHS Trust, in 1990, as a Special Needs Nurse based at Regency High School (formally Rose Hill Special School) Worcester. Over the last few years, Christine has spent time in the voluntary sector, training as a counsellor with ChildLine and working within Regency High School (formally Rose Hill Special School) and Acorns Hospice. Chris supports the staff at the centre in many ways. In an advisory capacity as well as a practical one. Her medical background and links with other allied professionals has proved to be indespensible to the centre. She also will step in to cover staff for a variety of reasons, including training.
Maxine Lowe. Maxine works as a Senior Support Worker. She has worked within the care sector for many years and has a great deal of experience of working with children and adults with special needs. Maxine has many qualifications and is trained as an Enrolled Nurse in Mental Handicap. She has worked in schools, with families working with children with profound and multiple learning difficulties and in nursing homes working with the elderly. Maxine has the additional responsibility for coordinating the transport. A challenging role with the use of three vehicles picking up clients from Redditch to Evesham.
Myriad is also supported by a growing band of employees and volunteers who work at the centre or on the transport to support our clients in a variety of ways. We are very grateful to the support of the staff and volunteers who as a body of people share the vision of the centre and are reliable and conscientious in delivering the service, often giving up their time energy and enthusiasm for fund raising events.
