NEWSLETTER October 2009

The Summer Barbeque
This was a wonderful evening helped by the clement weather and the amazing number of people who joined us for the event. It was made even more special by the number of clients who were able to join us. Thanks also go to the staff and volunteers who worked so hard to make it happen and in particular the Parker family. Just under £2,000 has gone into the bus fund, a vital aspect of our service. Althoughwe have been lucky enough to be allocated a Lord Taverner’s bus, we still need to raise funds to replace our original White bus, as we are going to need three buses on the road shortly. The Lord Taverner’s bus is being delivered during the first week of November and we are having an official presentation at the centre on the 18th November. It is not guaranteed that a celebrity will attend, but we are hopeful.

Earlswood Methodist Church
We were lucky enough to be the recipients of £1,000 from the proceeds of a fete held by Earlswood Methodist Church. The money has been used to purchase a piece of physiotherapy equipment for the clients.

New Staff:-

Kim Balsom Kim has been employed as Deputy Manager to work alongside Lynn Parker. She comes with a background in management and has worked with young people with special needs. With her many skills I am sure she will be an asset to the centre.

Nicky Smith Some of you may recognise Nicky, who has joined us as a senior support worker. She previously worked at a local special school, where she accumulated many years of experience working with all age groups with special needs.

Sarah Parsons Sarah has joined us as an administrative assistant, with many skills she is providing much needed support in the office.

Sean Smith Sean is supporting us with our ever growing transport system. You may meet him either driving the bus, or the P.C, but he has also helped with jobs around the centre.
