Where Are We Now? MyriadThe Myriad Centre is now an established resource for clients, parents friends and associated professionals. Since opening in April 2007 the number of young people and adults using the centre has grown from 3 part time clients to 15 using the centre in a variety of ways. With a flexible approach to providing our service we support adults using other community services from half a day a week on a regular or irregular basis through to those who use Myriad exclusively six days a week. MyriadWe also provide a service to children aged 13 years upwards still at school and college on Saturdays and during school holidays. Aiming to provide a holistic approach to meeting needs links have been established with a number of allied professionals to support the physical, emotional and cultural needs of our clients as well as developing the range of experiences offered. We have also attracted a number of volunteers, who have enriched the experiences of our clients in many ways.

The Myriad Garden The centre garden continues to be developed by Saint Pauls Church. To date the the block paving has been laid, bamboo screening fitted, planters supplied and filled, and a water feature fitted. It already provides a beautiful picture to look out onto from the windows in the green room and will be an additional space to use and work in when we benefit from the more clement weather

We anticipate further clients joining during the year and are currently looking for additional staff and volunteers to help us grow. If you would be interested in joining us either as a member of staff or volunteer, please go to the Work with us page.

Myriad We are talking to as many interested parents and carers as we can contact, who have expressed an interest in sending a young adult to Myriad. If you would like to have a look around the centre and discuss the programmes we are able to offer either call us on 01905-729190 or please contact us at enquiries@myriadcentre.org.uk

Most of our current parents and carers use Direct Payments and Independent Living Fund to support the payment of our service. However clients coming through the education system at the moment are likely to apply for the recently introduced Individual Budgets. Individual Budgets are designed to bring about independence and choice for people receiving care or support. It gives them a full understanding of the finance that is available, in order to empower them to take control and make decisions about the care that they receive. Either procedure can take time and it's advisable to start the process as soon as possible. Jackie Treagus works for Social Services and supports parents with their applications. We have found her to be very supportive and she will be able to do the following

We urge all interested parents who are interested in using our service to gain a better understanding of how the funding works. Jackie can be contacted directly for an initial discussion, her contact details are:
