Myriad’s clients have complex needs that require a high degree of support.
These include:
Medical Needs: Our clients may require administration of medication. They may have various medical conditions which could include epilepsy and cerebral palsy. Some will be tube fed.
Physical Needs: Our clients may have limited control of their limbs and require regular changes of position for pressure and pain relief through physiotherapy and hydrotherapy. They may have particular toileting and personal needs. Our clients may require constant help with eating and drinking. They may have specific dietary and feeding requirements.
Communication: They may be able to use conventional communication skills, use aids or rely on simple reflex responses.
Meeting Their Needs
Myriad puts the needs of the individual client first. The following are part of the daily routine:
Activities: Development of personal interests will be supported as fully as possible. These could include; a range of therapies (physiotherapy, hydrotherapy and music therapies).
Social Events: Regular opportunities for clients including; engaging in social activities as part of the local community, developing hobbies and appropriate leisure interests.
Advocacy: Each client has a key worker to represent their views on a wide range of issues including; help to compile a timetable which best meets their individual needs, help to achieve best educational input from staff, help to pursue personal interests and make choices in social activities, to contribute to decisions made in the daily running of the centre.
